Celebrating Excellence: INTX Earns Green Tourism Silver Award

INTX Celebrates Prestigious Green Tourism Silver Award

We are thrilled to share the results from our 2024 assessment by Green Tourism. INTX has proudly achieved the Green Tourism Silver Award, marking a significant advancement from our previous Bronze status! This prestigious accolade underscores our steadfast dedication to sustainability and excellence in the transport sector, a journey we’ve shared with Green Tourism since 2022.

About Green Tourism

Green Tourism is a leading certification programme designed to recognise and promote sustainable practices within the tourism and hospitality sector. Green Tourism provides accreditation and support to businesses committed to reducing their environmental impact and promoting responsible tourism practices. Their rigorous assessment process evaluates various aspects of sustainability, including energy efficiency, waste management, community engagement, and more.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Over the past few years, INTX has been dedicated to integrating sustainability into every aspect of our operations. Our partnership with Green Tourism has been instrumental in guiding and recognising our efforts. The Silver Award is a testament to our ongoing commitment to improving our environmental performance and promoting sustainable practices within our company.

Key Sustainability Initiatives

Since our last assessment in August 2023, we have accelerated our sustainability initiatives across multiple fronts. Here are some of the key actions we’ve undertaken:

  1. Monthly Sustainability Newsletter
    • We launched a monthly staff sustainability newsletter to raise awareness and engagement among our team. This initiative aims to keep everyone informed about our sustainability goals, achievements, and opportunities for improvement.
  2. Updated Diversity and Inclusivity Policies
    • We updated our diversity and inclusivity policies to foster a more supportive and inclusive workplace culture. These updates are detailed in our employee handbook and aim to ensure that all employees feel valued and respected.
  3. Responsible Visitor Charter
    • We introduced a responsible visitor charter to encourage our clients to adopt sustainable practices during their travels. This charter outlines simple yet effective ways to minimise environmental impact while using our services.
  4. Reduction of Single-Use Plastics
    • We conducted a comprehensive review of office single-use plastics and implemented strategies to reduce their usage. This initiative is part of our broader effort to minimise waste and promote recycling within our offices.
  5. Eco-Friendly Cleaning Products
    • We transitioned to using eco-friendly cleaning products that are free from harmful chemicals such as parabens and SLS. This change contributes to a healthier workplace environment for our staff.
  6. Climate Change Risk Assessment
    • We completed a thorough climate change risk assessment to identify potential impacts on our operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risks. This proactive approach ensures we are prepared for future environmental challenges.
  7. Community Support
    • We supported local community projects, including fundraising for charitable organisations like FareShare. Our involvement in these initiatives helps enhance community welfare and demonstrates our commitment to social responsibility.
  8. Energy-Efficient Maintenance Practices
    • We implemented a structured maintenance regime for office equipment and electronics to ensure energy efficiency and prompt fault resolution. This practice helps us reduce energy consumption and improve the lifespan of our equipment.
  9. Measurement of Scope 3 Emissions
    • We commenced measuring scope 3 emissions in categories 6 and 7, aiming to reduce the indirect environmental impacts associated with our business activities. This effort is part of our comprehensive approach to managing our carbon footprint.
